Britannic

Irish Passenger

Fr. Joseph McDonald, my grandfather’s brother, traveled to Ireland in the summer of 1935. Here is his name on the passenger list of the M.V. Britannic for the return trip across the Atlantic.

The Britannic sailed from Cobh, Ireland and arrived in the Port of New York on August 18, 1935. Fr. Joseph’s address (48 Lancaster Ave, Philadelphia, PA) is the site of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, where he was serving as pastor.

Cobh is a seaport on the southern coast of Ireland in County Cork. The Britannic was an ocean liner of the White Star Line.
