Madonna of the Kitchen

Madonna of the Kitchen

The last time I was in Grandmom’s house in Williamstown was in 2005 after Sis’ funeral. I was with Mom and Dad, and as we were getting ready to leave I remember wondering if I would ever be inside the house again.

I saw this ceramic Madonna hanging on the wall in the kitchen, by the doorway to the dining room. Grandmom used to keep our cards and letters tucked behind it. On the spur of the moment I took it so I would always have something of the house with me. I’m glad I did.
