I had contacted the Philadelphia Archdiocesan Historical Research Center to inquire if they had any information on my great-uncle, Rev. Joseph A. McDonald. They responded very quickly and sent me copies of the documents they had in their archives (unfortunately no new pictures).
The first document is a record of his priestly ministry in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
I was interested to learn that Fr. Joseph went to Holy Trinity for elementary school. There is no longer a school by that name in Philadelphia, but there is a Holy Trinity Church. It is an old parish (the church was built in 1789) and it was intended to serve the German Catholic population.
Maybe when Fr. Joseph was a child Holy Trinity was his home parish and it had a school at the time. He and his family lived on South Street, about a half mile from the church.
Fr. Joseph also spoke a little German and Italian. More clues about him, more things to research.
The second page of his record is in the next post.
