Rectory Fire

This article is from the Pottstown Mercury in Pottstown, Pennsylvania.

On November 5, 1940, a bird’s nest ignited from a worker’s gasoline torch at the rectory of St. Aloysius Church in Pottstown. My great-uncle, Rev. Joseph A. McDonald, was pastor at the time. The article included a picture of him along with the two associate pastors. Fortunately no one was hurt.
