This is from the scrapbook that Grandmom kept about her brother, Patrick “Taddle” Craven. Taddle was killed in action during World War I.
The scrapbook was carefully put together. Grandmom saved many things, and I am grateful that she helped to preserve the memory of Taddle.
The poem reads:
He left home in perfect health,
He looked so young and brave.
With little thought how soon he’d be,
Laid in a Soldier’s grave.
