Power Plant


Grandmom’s father, James “Pap” Craven, worked in the Williamstown electric power plant, in addition to working in the coal mines. This photo is from 1908; Pap is on the left. A close-up is below along with a newspaper article about the company he worked for, the Sterling Electric Heat and Power Company.

The article is from the Lebanon Courier and Semi-Weekly Report, July 7, 1908. I don’t know if the photograph has a connection to the article, but it seems possible if not likely.

I like the fact that my great-grandfather was involved with an industry that was new at the time and very beneficial to the community. He looks like someone who was good at working with his hands.
